'Doctor Who' series 7 opener title announced!

Doctor Who TV is reporting that the seventh series of Doctor Who will open with ASYLUM OF THE DALEKS, which seems to be the episode in which The Doctor, Amy, and Rory are in an arctic-type location.

The title is confirmed by the British Film Institute, who will be screening the episode on August 14.

Yet to be confirmed, the new series is set to debut in late August.

'DOCTOR WHO': New information revealed on Jenna-Louise Coleman's companion

Doctor Who TV is reporting that Steven Moffat, the showrunner and head-writer for Doctor Who, has released a few tidbits of information regarding Jenna-Louise Coleman's character (allegedly named Clara) in the second half of the seventh series of Who.

According to Doctor Who TV:

• Coleman will play a modern, human girl--despite rumors that she would be from Victorian times, and that she would be alien.
• She's very unique in the way she ends up with the Doctor
• She's got no connections to previous companions OR characters
• "The Doctor has never met anyone quite like her before"
• She's very effective on the Doctor/companion relationship, and her experience in the TARDIS is reportedly life-changing for the Doctor.

Jenna-Louise Coleman starts 'Doctor Who' filming

The Doctor's new companion, played by Jenna-Louise Coleman, has started filming for her role on Doctor Who.

Her filming is currently taking place at a church/manor called Plas Llanmihangel, which gives it a very eerie, medieval feel to it, and boosts the theory of Coleman's premiere being a ghost story. Although Coleman has not been seen in costume, it has been speculated that her companion is from the past.

'Doctor Who' Series 7 filming updates ("Cubed") | Spoilers

Today, Doctor Who TV revealed some new spoilers regarding the fourth episode in the seventh series of Doctor Who.

The mysterious black cubes will apparently be carriers of a disease that release themselves upon a timer reaching the end of its countdown. The cubes will infect the Doctor and one of his hearts, for they seem to be immensely strong.

We also reported that part of the episode would be in the hospital seen in "The Eleventh Hour". Apparently this sequence will contain a young girl who has knowledge on the cubes, which sounds a lot similar to "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead."

Reportedly, there will be a brief sequence featuring King Henry VIII's residence, and DWT speculates that it is a pre-credit sequence, for most of the episode takes place in Rory and Amy's modern Earth.

As previously reported, UNIT is returning. While Martha may not be in this episode, a new UNIT character will be introduced. Her name is Kate Stewart.

Doctor Who returns in August.

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill tweet their farewells to 'Doctor Who'

As previously reported, today was the last day that Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) filmed for Doctor Who as the Eleventh Doctor's companions.

Karen Gillan tweeted:

"And that's a wrap! Bye bye from the ponds. We love you."



Arthur Darvill tweeted:

"And. . . . That's it. @KarenGillan2"



We've already kind of mushy-posted about our farewells to the Ponds, but we do want to thank them so much for all they've done in/with the fandom! They've had three seasons, the longest any companion in this reincarnation of the show has had, and they're probably the most important of all of the Doctor's companions, and we couldn't have imagined any better actors to portray them!

'Doctor Who' Series 7 casting updates, filming information | Spoilers

Doctor Who TV has provided a list of spoiler-ish information regarding the fourth episode of the seventh series of Doctor Who, which is the last episode that Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) are filming, although their respective characters' last episode has already been filmed (episode five).

• Steven Berkoff (whom you may have seen as Dirch Frode in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) will be playing a character called Mr. Shanks
• Ruthie Henshall is also reportedly playing an antagonist in the episode, currently titled "Cubed."
• The Doctor's arrival will be during Amy and Rory's wedding anniversary/BBQ, which will also feature Mark Williams, who is playing Rory's father, Brian.
• The Neath Abbey and Cadoc's Hospital are returning as filming locations. They can be seen in "The Rebel Flesh" and "The Eleventh Hour," respectively.
• The Doctor is tampering around with those mysterious black cubes again. Perhaps they are somehow linked to either Berkoff's or Henshall's character.
• Today is also reportedly Karen and Arthur's last day of Doctor Who filming, which is obviously very sentimental.

We wish Karen and Arthur the best of luck in their future endeavors, and we hope that they enjoy every single lasting bit of Doctor Who they have, and that they know they will be remembered. They truly were great!

'Doctor Who' series 7 to debut in August (?)

According to The Guardian, The MediaGuardian Edinburgh International Television Festival will be debuting the opener of the seventh series of Doctor Who, the long-awaited return with the final season of Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, and the opening season for the Doctor's next companion, who will be played by Jenna Louise Coleman.

At last year's festival, Let's Kill Hitler was premiered and debuted on BBC the next day, so perhaps that will be the same case this year, meaning the episode could perhaps air on August 25!

More Series 7 updates for 'Doctor Who'; "Cubed" filming in Wales | Spoilers

A couple days ago, we reported that the fourth episode of the seventh series of Doctor Who would be entitled "Cubed", and cubed it is.

Doctor Who TV has updated us with images from filming of the episode over in Wales, showing Amy and Rory peering out their window to see little black cubes scattered all over the street. The Doctor is also visible near a tree, fidgeting around, and Mark Williams--who can be seen in the teaser trailer for the upcoming season--was also seen on the set.

The pictures are from the Twitter user Mugim0e, and due to copyright issues, they are visible in an intersting slideshow on DWT.

'Doctor Who' Exec Caroline Skinner Talks Series 7 | Spoilers

Just yesterday, we posted about Steven Moffat's spoilers for the seventh series of Doctor Who. Now, it seems another Who exec has spoken about the upcoming series. Doctor Who TV provides an interesting report from Caroline Skinner about what fans can expect from the next season.

Doctor Who TV reports:

Skinner confirms that the Russel T Davies-owned Dalek he loaned for filming on the opener has a "starring role in the climax."


She moves on to talk about the second episode which is being written by Chris Chibnall. Skinner says it has "the best episode title ever" and will be "the biggest VFX episode of the series."


Skinner also stated that the fourth episode is tentatively titled Cubed, and is--of course--the second to last episode starring Rory Williams and Amy Pond, which is in production now, and that it will focus on Rory and Amy's relationship.

Steven Moffat Talks Series 7 of 'Doctor Who' | Spoilers ahead.

Steven Moffat, producer and writer of the BBC drama, Doctor Who, has spoken to Doctor Who TV about the future of the series and what we can expect from the next series, which we already know will consist of the departure of Amy Pond and Rory Williams, the Doctor's current companions.

• Rory and Amy are no longer regular travelers with the Doctor: “If he thinks he needs them, he just pops in on them,” but, “Each time they’ll get a little older.”
• Moffat on killing off companions: “Even if Idon’t think I’ll do it…maybe I will do it!”
• Moffat ponders, “If we did a UNIT story, would Martha be there?”
• The Special Weapons Dalek will definitely appear in the opener
• Moffat reiterates that the New Paradigm Daleks are an “officer class”
• Can the question “Doctor Who?” be answered? “Wait and see”
• We will find out exactly what Trenzalore is all about
• “The Fall of the Eleventh” will also be resolved (perhaps not in Series 7 though)
• Moffat is very keen that the order of the episodes can be swapped around this time
• There will still be a story arc, but it will be “the opposite” of Series 6
• Even though he said no more two-parters, they are still possible if the story requires them
• Jenna-Louise’s companion will be different to the others and is “going to be a shock”
• Filming will continue throughout the rest of 2012 and further into 2013 and beyond

These spoiler-y plot points can be found in tomorrow's issue of the Doctor Who Magazine and its interview with Moffat. 

A couple of observations:

• Moffat says that series 7 will consist of a plot arc that is opposite to that of series 6, which [spoilerspoilerspoilerspoilerspoiler] revolves primarily around River Song and her history and involvement with the Doctor. What, exactly, do you think this means? Will the plot arc revolve around the absence of someone? Perhaps a more light-hearted storyline, whereas River's was very tragic? We know that River will be appearing in the series, so could she be involved somehow? 
• Karen Gillan has said that Amy and Rory's exit will close things up (many people believe they'll be [spoilerspoilerspoiler] killed by Weeping Angels; but will they survive and make cameos later on?
• What is "different" in Steven Moffat's eyes (RE: the Jenna Louise Coleman comment.) How do you think her companion character will act? I've actually started to believe that she'll be very stubborn and resistant on her quests with the Doctor, and that she may even betray him for her own benefit.

The Doctor's Next Companion is...

Jenna-Louise Coleman (Emmerdale, Captain America) has been cast as the Doctor's next companion in the British television series, Doctor Who. For those who are unaware, the Doctor brings a companion with him as he travels through time in order to successfully...do what he does, I suppose.
