Is 'the Night Circus' the "NEXT HARRY POTTER"?
For the past few years, many series have been hailed as "the next Potter": the Twilight Saga, the Hunger Games, Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. The Wall Street Journal recently released a piece on an upcoming fiction novel entitled The Night Circus and its connections to Potter. The novel is about young magicians Celia and Marco who are swept into a circus that is beyond any other. The book is described as being similar to Potter as far as magic goes, but similar to Twilight with its romance and to The Hunger Games with its high-stakes atmosphere. The novel has also sold film rights to Summit Entertainment, and David Heyman is said to be at the helm of the film. I think it is definitely possible for the book to be very successful, though it is a stand-alone, but I don't think it will achieve the magnitude of Potter. I think that if anything were to be as big as Potter, it would come in years, and we will have just have to wait and see. As for now, I feel no hole in my heart, as Pottermore is here and we are lucky to say that we lived in the generation of Potter, the biggest series ever in existence.
